It’s first‑come, first‑served, open seasonally, and places you minutes from the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes with broad views across Death Valley’s basin.

Location is the headline: you can roll to the dunes for golden‑hour wanders, or pop across the road for last‑minute supplies and a hot meal. The setting is classic open desert—flat, big‑sky views, mountains framing the horizon, and dark nights that deliver real-deal stargazing.
Expect a large, open, grid‑style campground on gravel/hard‑pack with minimal vegetation and limited privacy between sites. It’s exposed, so wind and blowing dust are part of the deal. With lots of RVs around, generator hum and some highway noise are common—pick a spot away from the road if that bothers you.
Wildlife is sparse but around—ravens, coyotes, small rodents, plus lizards (and occasionally snakes) in warmer months. Keep food and trash secured; coyotes are opportunists.
