Cottonwoods shade the sites but screen most of the lake; only some spots near shore have open water views. Choose it for a wooded base by the lake, not for a quiet, roomy camp: sites sit close together and road traffic carries through the trees.

The campground generally operates from late May into September, and reservations are required; check the season's dates before planning. Towed units and RVs longer than 21 feet are not allowed. Sites accommodate up to eight people and two tents, with room for up to two vehicles where space allows.

There are no showers, hookups, store, or food service at the campground, so bring what you need. Lake McDonald Lodge, about a mile away, has a restaurant and camp store. Shore access varies by site, and the trees block most broad lake views from within the campground.
