Guide
Lake Creek Overlook is a short, wheelchair-accessible viewpoint on the clear mountain stream near Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center. It’s a small water stop, not a wide Teton panorama. From the center, follow the Lake Creek Trail for about 0.1 mile; the overlook is at the first fork, with a small waterfall at the next.
Lake Creek drains Phelps Lake. Snowmelt makes it run higher and colder early in the season, then the flow drops as summer warms. Brownish-yellow or white mats on the rocks are didymo, or “rock snot.” Clean, drain, and dry gear between waterways so you don’t move the algae.
