Albright View Turnout is a paved roadside pull-off with an open view across the valley toward the Teton Range. It’s worth a few minutes when you’re already driving through the park; no hike is needed. The turnout is wheelchair accessible, and it’s the safe place to stop instead of the highway shoulder.

The Teton Range dominates the view, but Blacktail Butte and the Gros Ventre Mountains also rise above the valley. A peak-identification exhibit helps put names to the skyline. Take in more than one angle: the wooden turnout sign with the Tetons behind it makes a good sense-of-place photo, while a wider frame shows how the range sits above the valley.

The turnout and a prominent nearby Teton peak honor Horace M. Albright, who later became the second director of the National Park Service. In 1923, while superintendent of Yellowstone, he met with other figures in Moose to discuss Jackson Hole’s future and enlisted John D. Rockefeller in the effort to protect the area. That work set in motion a plan that eventually led to the park.
