Beauchamp Falls

Beauchamp Falls is a roughly 20-metre waterfall in Otway Forest Park, near Beech Forest. Water pours over a dark rock face into a pool, enclosed by temperate rainforest and tree ferns. It is a worthwhile inland detour when you want a real walk as part of the waterfall stop.

Start at the Beauchamp Falls Campground picnic area. The signed route is about 3 km return; allow roughly an hour to an hour and a quarter. It descends through forest to a viewing platform, then climbs back the same way. The steep steps near the falls and the uphill return make it harder than the distance suggests. It is not suitable for visitors who cannot manage stairs or uneven ground; shoes with good grip help.

The falls are especially striking after heavy rain, when the white cascade runs strongly into the pool. Rain can also leave the path and stairs slippery, so take your time on the way down and back up.

The campground at the walk's start has parking, picnic tables and toilets that day visitors can use. There is no potable water, and no food service is listed on site, so bring water and snacks before leaving Beech Forest. The final road is unsealed and described as suitable for 2WD vehicles and caravans, though visitors sometimes report a rougher drive after wet weather.

Mountain ash rises above the track, with myrtle beech, blackwood and tree ferns around the falls. From the platform, include both the cascade and pool in a photo; the greenery around them shows how enclosed this little waterfall is.
