Set in thick Otways rainforest near Beech Forest, Beauchamp Falls is a straight‑drop, roughly 20 m cascade that reliably runs thanks to the region’s high rainfall. It’s one of those short-but-satisfying detours off the Great Ocean Road—big ferns, towering mountain ash, and the constant hush of water.
The Walk
It’s an “upside‑down” hike: mostly downhill to the falls, then a steady climb back to the car. Expect about 3 km return and roughly an hour on the move (longer if you linger at the base). After rain the track gets muddy and the stairs slick, so grippy footwear pays off. There’s a sturdy viewing deck; some people still poke toward older, unofficial paths, but the signed track gives you the shot you want without the fuss.
Facilities & Camping
The campground doubles as the trailhead and car park—handy if you’re chasing a quiet early visit. It’s free and first‑come, with drop toilets, picnic tables and fire pits, but no potable water, so bring what you need. Dogs are allowed at this site, which is part of Otway Forest Park, making it an easy overnighter for road‑trippers. Recent upgrades have left the area looking tidy and functional.
Getting There
Access is via an unsealed road that’s generally fine for 2WD in normal conditions. It’s popular—especially on weekends—so earlier is better for parking and for nabbing a campsite.
