Hiking Twentymile Cascade Trail

A short creekside hikeTwentymile Cascade Trail is a 1.

Twentymile Cascade Trail is a 1.2-mile out-and-back from Twentymile Trailhead to a forested cascade. Most of the walk follows a broad gravel roadbed beside a mountain stream. Allow about 45 minutes for the walk and a brief stop at the water. It’s a good pick when you want a waterfall outing without taking on the much longer Twentymile Loop.

Finding the cascadeStart at Twentymile Trailhead, at the end of the road beyond the ranger station.

Start at Twentymile Trailhead, at the end of the road beyond the ranger station. Follow Twentymile Trail for about half a mile to the first junction and bridge, then take Wolf Ridge Trail. About 100 yards from the bridge, look right for the foot trail to the cascade. The path is easy to miss if you keep following the broad track straight ahead.

What you’ll seeThe stream leads to a cascade among moss-covered rocks and mixed hardwood forest.

The stream leads to a cascade among moss-covered rocks and mixed hardwood forest. This is a close-up creek stop rather than a high viewpoint; the reward is watching water spill across the rocks in a shaded setting.

A parking tag is required when your car stays more than 15 minutes, and pets aren’t allowed on this trail. The Parkwolf route line follows mapped trail geometry to the described footpath turnoff; the final footpath to the waterfall isn’t drawn in the available trail data. Follow the right-hand foot-trail directions for the last stretch, and don’t treat the line’s endpoint as the waterfall.
