Overview
Marmot Basin is Jasper’s ski playground: 91 named runs, 1,720 acres, 914 m (3,000 ft) of vertical, and a summit at 2,612 m. Its high base—the highest of any major Canadian ski area—helps preserve snow and extends the season from mid‑November into early May. Terrain splits roughly 30% beginner, 30% intermediate, 20% advanced, 20% expert, served by 7 lifts, 3 terrain parks, and a longest run of 5.6 km. Average snowfall is about 440 cm.

Aim for weekdays and arrive early on weekends to avoid lines.
Park higher in the tiered lots for easier ski-to-car access.
Use the Jasper–hill shuttle if you don’t want to drive the access road.

Expect big-shouldered Rockies views and a mix of open alpine bowls above treeline with sheltered, tree-lined trails lower down. On clear days you get sweeping, 360-degree vistas across the ranges—this is as much about the setting as the skiing.
It’s famously more relaxed than some bigger-name resorts—often quieter on weekdays with quick laps and lots of elbow room. The Knob chair is an old-school ride but accesses excellent advanced and expert terrain. If you’re newer or skiing with mixed-ability friends, you can still descend from high points on blue and green routes without feeling trapped.
You’re in a national park, so keep an eye out on the access road and at lower elevations for elk, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and birds of prey—especially during quieter times.
