Finlay's Kalbarri is an open-air seafood restaurant with an onsite craft brewery in Kalbarri town, a couple of blocks from the beach. It's a good meal stop to pair with time around Kalbarri National Park if you want more than a quick takeaway; the menu includes local seafood and plant-based options, and the brewery makes beer for the tap and takeaway.
Book ahead: the venue says it often fills. Diners describe everything from quick meals to long waits, and the courtyard can get loud when live music is on. Pick it for a social, unhurried meal rather than a quiet dinner.
The site first held Kalbarri's ice works, then a Finlay family fish-export business that sent chilled snapper to Japan and Australian capital cities by air. When a national pilots' strike disrupted that trade in 1989, the family turned the space into Finlay's Fresh Fish BBQ. The restaurant grew from that pivot. The current owners took over in 2018 and aren't related to the founding family; an onsite brewery came later, and canning began in 2020.
