The signed entrance is on the N71 just after Muckross Park Hotel. The gate has room for only one or two cars; local route guidance suggests parking near the hotel and walking a few metres back when it is full. Do not block the entrance or roadway.

Safety

The earth track can be muddy after rain, with short steep descents and small stream crossings that may be slippery. Informal tracks branch near the pool; follow the marked circuit.

The Blue Pool is a small, clear blue-green woodland pool, tucked beneath trees rather than opened out as a big viewpoint. There are a few places to pause by the water and a picnic bench near the entrance. Before setting out, look across the road to the grassy bank; native red deer are sometimes seen there, though sightings aren't guaranteed.

Access and footingThe entrance is just after Muckross Park Hotel, on the Killarney–Kenmare road.

The entrance is just after Muckross Park Hotel, on the Killarney–Kenmare road. Space at the gate is very limited—about one or two cars—so be ready to park near the hotel and walk back a few metres; don't block the entrance or road. The track can be muddy after rain, and the stream crossings and downhill sections can be slippery. A dog rule, toilet and drinking-water point for this exact loop weren't confirmed, so check the signs and plan without them.
