Getting there

From Callander, the campsite is about six miles west on the A821 and Duke’s Pass. From the Three Lochs Forest Drive route, use the campsite turn and continue for about half a mile. You are close to Ben A’an, Loch Katrine and the forest drive, but the appeal here is simpler: a small tent-only site in a wooded lochside setting. Bring what you need, expect midges in summer, and choose it for the location rather than extra services.

Loch Achray Campsite is a small, informal 17-pitch tent site on the sheltered shore of Loch Achray, with pitches split between open ground and woodland. It suits campers who want a quiet base for Trossachs walks, not a full-service holiday park. The site sits between Loch Katrine and Loch Venachar, at the foot of Ben A’an; that walking access is the main reason to choose it.

Expect the useful basics: drinking water, shared washing-up facilities and toilets, plus one designated car space with your booking. Some pitches have fire bowls, and firewood can be pre-booked. Dogs are welcome. There are no showers, motorhome or campervan spaces, or on-site bins, so come prepared to take your waste and recycling home. The park identifies pitches 16 and 17 as accessible, with nearby accessible toilets, but check live availability before relying on them.
