Trail guide
Leannach Forest Circuit is a 5-mile loop from Leannach Forestry car park through forestry tracks and short path sections, with clearings looking toward Ben A’an, Ben Venue and Loch Achray. Allow 2–2½ hours for about 160 m of gentle climbing. It’s an easy forest walk, not a climb of either peak.
Pass the vehicle barrier and continue ahead at the first right-hand turn; that’s the return path. The outward track crosses cleared ground with Ben A’an to the right and Ben Venue ahead, then descends through forest. Look through the trees for Loch Achray and Tigh Mhòr. After the stream bridge, leave the Ben Venue path to the left and take the downhill branch beside the boulders. At the next junction turn right toward Brig o’ Turk, cross the stream again and climb.
The climb passes native broadleaf woodland and another clearing, where Loch Achray and Tigh Mhòr come into fuller view. Ignore tracks joining from the left. When the Great Trossachs Path branches left, stay on the main track; it climbs, bends right and then left to rejoin your outward route. Several junctions need attention. Dogs may come under Scottish access rules; in forests, keep them close at heel or on a short lead during the usual April–July bird-nesting season. The nearest listed visitor facilities are at The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre, about a mile north of Aberfoyle.
