Dixon Cave Trail is a short out-and-back from Historic Entrance to a raised platform above the cave’s dark mouth. The mapped tread is about 0.3 mile one way, so walking back makes it roughly 0.6 mile total. The park’s trail list gives 0.4 mile without saying whether that is one way or the full walk; I’d plan around the mapped out-and-back. The farther link toward Green River Bluffs is outside this cave-view trip. Allow about 20 to 25 minutes, including a pause at the platform. Leashed pets may use park trails under the park’s rules.

The tread then eases out on gravel with occasional rocks and roots, before getting rockier and climbing again near the cave. Steps lead to the viewing platform. It’s brief, but it isn’t a flat stroll; take your time where the footing gets rough.

A little geologyThere’s more to notice than the cave.
There’s more to notice than the cave. The trail passes a layered sandstone-over-limestone outcrop, and a fossil rugose coral is visible in limestone beside the route. If you enjoy rock details, slow down for a look before heading back. If you want a longer walk, plan the Green River Bluffs connection as its own route rather than adding it by accident.
