Reach the valley by turning from US 101 onto Sol Duc Road, roughly 40 minutes west of Port Angeles. The station operates seasonally, so do not count on an attendant being here year-round. Check road conditions before driving in; the park stays open year-round, but individual roads and facilities can be seasonal.

More about Sol Duc Entrance Station

At the boothSol Duc Entrance Station is the seasonal fee booth on the road into Olympic’s Sol Duc Valley.

Sol Duc Entrance Station is the seasonal fee booth on the road into Olympic’s Sol Duc Valley. The small wooden station sits on an island in the roadway; drivers pull alongside its sliding window for entry help, passes and information when staff are there. It’s a functional checkpoint, not a visitor center or a place to plan a long stop.

The NPS Sol Duc Entrance restroom is a distinct facility about 150 metres northeast of the booth. It is a single-stall, all-gender accessible restroom, so do not mistake it for a restroom inside the station.

Beyond the entrance, the valley shifts into old-growth forest, subalpine lakes and snowy peaks around the Sol Duc River. Coho salmon migrate through the river toward the headwaters. The separate Salmon Cascades stop, about five miles down Sol Duc Road, is a useful place to look for them in late October and early November.
