Three Isle Lake Backcountry Campground

Three Isle Lake Backcountry Campground is a 16-site tent camp in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, reached on foot beside the lake. The standard approach from North Interlakes Day Use Area is 10.3 km one way on the Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit and Three Isle Lake Trail. It passes Forks Campground, climbs a steep headwall, then drops to the signed junction for camp. This is an overnight backpacking destination or a serious day-hike objective, not a quick stop.

The campground has two separate loops: one sits in the trees above the lake, and the other is about 500 m along the shore on the far side of the creek. The tent pads are spread out, and lake views vary from site to site; don't count on every pad facing the water. The camp is also a base for longer routes toward South and North Kananaskis Passes and Turbine Canyon.

There are pit or vault toilets and secure food-storage lockers, but fires are not allowed, so bring a stove. The listed water source is the lake or creek, not a confirmed potable tap; bring a way to treat surface water. Reserve ahead through Alberta Parks for one of the 16 sites.
