Overview
This is a true backpack-in campground set on Three Isle Lake in Kananaskis Country. You’ll reach it via the Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit/Three Isle Lake Trail from North Interlakes Day Use, about 10.3 km one way. Expect basic backcountry comforts: pit/vault toilets, secure food lockers, and lake/creek water you must treat. Campfires aren’t allowed, so plan meals accordingly.
Camp Layout
There are 16 designated tent pads split between two loops: one tucked in trees above the lake, and another roughly 0.5 km along the lakeshore on the opposite side of the creek. Each site allows up to 6 people and one tent, keeping things quiet and organized.
Getting There
Start at North Interlakes Day Use and follow the signed Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit to the Three Isle Lake Trail. The approach is a solid day’s hike for most parties; pack like you won’t see services—because you won’t.
Reservations, Season, and Fees
Reservations open 90 days before your arrival date. The fee is $12 CAD per person per night, and this campground is within the Kananaskis Lakes permit area. The posted operating season is June 25–November 29; as of December 2, 2025, it’s outside that window.
Water, Food, and Safety
Water comes from the lake or nearby creek—bring a filter or treatment. Use the bear-resistant lockers for all smellables. With no campfires, a lightweight stove is essential.

Best Time to Visit
