Hiking Kisva Trail

A short link, not a loopKisva Trail is a 0.

Kisva Trail is a 0.6-mile, one-way connector along Oak Creek, linking Red Rock State Park's main loop network toward Yavapai Ridge. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes one way. It is a mellow nature walk through the creek corridor, not a summit hike or a route with one big viewpoint. The distance is for one direction; retrace the trail for a 1.2-mile out-and-back. Kisva makes the most sense when you're linking longer park walks or want a short creekside stretch.

The path runs through riparian habitat, where cottonwoods bring shade and the creek changes the feel from the park's open red-rock slopes. Give the trees a look for birds; the park highlights this corridor for its plants and wildlife. The interest here is the close, leafy creek setting rather than a dramatic overlook.

Fitting it into a walkKisva is a through connector.

Kisva is a through connector. Check the park's signed trail network before starting so you know which loop you'll pick up at the far junction. If you need to finish where you began, turn around and walk back rather than expecting a loop. The trail surface is natural and the route has very little elevation change.

Use the designated parking at the Miller Visitor Center and follow the signed park trails to Kisva's western junction. Park admission is required. The visitor center has restrooms, exhibits and a gift shop, with picnic ramadas nearby; those are park amenities at the main access, not services along the trail. Pets are prohibited except service animals, and swimming and wading in Oak Creek are not allowed. Stay on designated trails.
