Trail guide
Coyote Ridge Trail is a 0.2-mile, one-way connector between the Eagle's Nest and Apache Fire loops. That distance covers only this segment; reaching either junction adds miles, so it works best as part of a longer walk. Turn around on the connector for about 0.4 mile on the ridge, then retrace your approach.
The path bends across a small ridge, crossing several washes and opening to views of the surrounding red-sandstone country. It's short but steeper and more winding than the adjoining Apache Fire trail. From the Eagle's Nest junction toward Apache Fire, the route climbs; from Apache Fire toward Eagle's Nest, it descends. Allow about 10 minutes each way. At the openings, frame the distant cliffs through the scrub instead of trying to fit the whole park into one shot.
There's no standalone Coyote Ridge parking area. Park at the Miller Visitor Center/day-use area, then follow the signed park trails to either end; the approach adds distance. Restrooms and the park store are back at the visitor center. Pets are prohibited except service animals, and hikers must stay on designated trails.
