Los Poleos is a small roadside viewpoint on TF-38, the Chío–Boca Tauce road, at kilometre 15.6. It’s a good short stop on the climb from the west: the view and the change from pine-covered slopes to volcanic ground are the point, not a long visit. There are very few parking spaces and no public transport along this stretch. Visitors have repeatedly reported vehicle break-ins here, so take valuables with you rather than leaving them in the car.

The overlook opens toward Tenerife’s southwest coast, with red and black volcanic ground against green vegetation. La Gomera and La Palma can appear on the horizon on a clear day. For the broadest photo, face southwest; turn east for a view toward Teide.

The marked PR TF 43.6 starts here and links into the PR TF 43 route toward Chinyero. It’s an easy, linear 1.3 km walk listed at about 25 minutes. The route is marked inaccessible to people with reduced mobility; that applies to the trail and doesn’t establish whether the roadside viewpoint itself is step-free.

The nearby Chinyero Special Nature Reserve includes the site of Tenerife’s most recent eruption, in 1909. Its cones and lava fields are part of the wider landscape here, where green pine contrasts with red and black volcanic ground. Plants have recolonized some of the reserve’s newer lava, a good reminder that this stark terrain is still changing.
