Guide
Juniper Campground is the North Unit's only campground, with 50 sites in a cottonwood setting beside the scenic drive. It's a practical base if you want to sleep inside the park and spread the loop over more than one day; the tradeoff is a basic setup. Sites mix open grass with tree shade, and bison sometimes wander through camp.
Reserve before you enter the park: every site requires a booking, and cell service can be limited.
Every site has a picnic table, raised grill and cleared tent pad. There are tent-only, vehicle and walk-to or boat-to sites, so check the type if you need to park right beside camp. Pull-through spaces can fit rigs over 50 feet, while back-in sites top out around 20 feet; walk-to site parking is for passenger vehicles. Two wheelchair-accessible sites have paved routes to bathrooms, the picnic area and the amphitheater.
The campground is open year-round, but its services vary by season: potable water and a dump station are seasonal, flush toilets are seasonal, and vault toilets are available year-round. There are no hookups, showers, camp store or food service, so bring what you need. If you need to fill an RV water tank, confirm the available setup before you go; a hookup is not provided.
