Townsite Campground

Townsite Campground is the developed frontcountry campground at the south end of Waterton’s village, with 246 sites for RVs and tents. The site is open and sunny, and you’re within walking distance of Upper Waterton Lake, Cameron Falls and village services. It works well as a base when you want camp life with town and lake walks close by, rather than a remote campsite.

The campground mixes full-service drive-through RV spots, electrical back-in sites, unserviced tent sites and walk-in tent sites; six sites are accessible. Each site has a picnic table and gravel pad, but there are no individual firepits. Check the service level and loop when you reserve.

Flush toilets with hot and cold water, hot showers, accessible facilities and food-storage lockers are available. Shared kitchen shelters have wood-burning stoves, and wood fires are permitted only in those shelters. The village is within walking distance for meals and other services.

Demand rises in July, August and long weekends, so book early. Campsites vary: some visitors value the roomy spots, while others find the open loops exposed with less privacy. Tent campers should be ready for strong winds that can make a night restless.

Mule deer sometimes move through the campground. Give them space, especially does with fawns, and keep dogs leashed and out of kitchen shelters.
