What to Expect
Sand here is narrow and interspersed with rocks; at high tide the beach can shrink to almost nothing. There’s a noticeable drop-off a short distance from shore. A nearby creek can cloud the water, so clarity and snorkeling vary—calm, clear days are best. You may spot sea turtles cruising the bay, and sunsets can be lovely from the sand or rocks.
Access & Parking
Reach the beach via a stairway down from the bluff along Lower Honoapiilani Road. Parking is extremely limited to roadside spaces—expect to hunt for a legal spot and be prepared to walk a bit. There are no facilities of any kind.

- Aim for low tide to maximize the small strip of sand.
- Mornings on weekdays are the quietest; late afternoons draw a few more folks for sunset.

This coast sits on the eroded flanks of Mauna Kahalawai (the West Maui Mountains), where surf and weather have carved short coves and rocky points. Expect lava rock underfoot and along the headlands.

There are no lifeguards. Watch the tide—sets can rush the narrow beach and sweep gear. Enter the water cautiously, especially with the steep drop-off and when visibility is poor.
