Trail guide
Pineapple Loop is a short forest circuit branching off Mahana Ridge. The complete line here is about 0.39 miles: the named path plus the short stretch of ridge trail that joins its two ends. The current route map labels the loop at 0.25 mile, while another regional listing gives 0.60; the mapped closed line measures 0.39. From D.T. Fleming Beach Park, the junction is roughly 2.6 miles uphill on Mahana Ridge. Turn back the same way and the outing is about 5.6 miles. Allow 3 to 4 hours. I would add this only if you want the longer ridge hike too.
The junction comes after about 2.6 miles of the Mahana Ridge approach from D.T. Fleming. The ridge has sustained uphill walking and a steep descent into and climb out of a gulch, so do not treat the loop length as an easy outing. A detailed account from 2016 said the loop was nearly impossible to follow because of overgrowth; I found no newer condition report. Confirm it is walkable before you set out.
The land around Mahana Ridge was once used to grow coffee and pineapple in the Honolua Ranch era. Feral pineapple plants were reported in the understory near the junction, although how many remain is unknown. That is the detail that makes this short side loop distinctive.
