Architect Creek Hut is a standard two-bunk backcountry hut on the Copland Track, roughly halfway between the track car park and Welcome Flat Hut. It is a useful overnight break for trampers, not a roadside stop. The full Copland Track to Welcome Flat is about 18 km one way and takes around seven hours; Architect Creek is partway along that route. With only two bunks, arrivals are first come, first served, and a bed is not guaranteed.

The hut has two bunks with mattresses, heating and a non-flush toilet. Its tap water is untreated, so boil it before drinking. There is no food service; bring the food you need. A standard hut ticket or eligible pass is required.

The Copland Track starts at a car park beside Rough Creek, off SH6 about 26 km south of Fox Glacier; the 150 m access road is gravel. Expect forest track, rocky riverbed boulder hopping and unbridged stream crossings. Streams can flood after heavy rain and the track may close at short notice, so do not cross Rough Creek when it is unsafe. Dogs are not allowed.

A hut built for the routeThe hut was prefabricated and flown in by helicopter in October 1984.
