White Sands Amphitheater is an outdoor event venue among the park’s white dunes, about seven miles beyond the fee station. It’s worth the drive when something is scheduled: Full Moon Nights bring live music, ranger programs and guest presenters, and MothaPalooza is another event held here. Vehicle access is tied to programs, so check the park calendar before heading out.

The venue is a broad, flat interdune clearing ringed by dunes about 20 to 30 feet high, with a makeshift stage below. There are no built-in seats; people sit on the slopes, and you can bring a chair or blanket. At Full Moon Night programs, you can bring a cooler with food and drinks.

From the event parking area, expect about a quarter-mile walk; popular Full Moon Nights can fill the lot, so arrive early and follow ranger directions. Two accessible vault toilets are beside the amphitheater, with no running water. For Full Moon programs, staff set up a ramp near the stage, and most of the sand is compact. It gets very dark and can be disorienting after sunset, so bring a flashlight and an extra layer.
