Daisy Geyser is a named geyser in Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin, in the Old Faithful area. Its water shoots at an angle rather than straight up, reaching 75 feet and lasting three to five minutes. If you want to see one of the basin’s distinctive eruptions, Daisy is an easy feature to pick out by its sideways jet.
Daisy usually erupts every 120 to 210 minutes, so the wait can be long if you arrive just after one. Check the live geyser forecast before setting your timing. Nearby Splendid Geyser is unpredictable and can disrupt Daisy’s usual pattern, so treat a prediction as a guide and enjoy the rest of Upper Geyser Basin if its window slips.
Daisy is viewed from the developed boardwalk network, with benches where visitors can wait. For a photo, keep the curving outflow channel in the foreground and leave room for the jet to lean across the pale basin. Stay on boardwalks and designated trails, supervise children, and don’t touch hydrothermal water or mats.
Upper Geyser Basin holds most of the world’s active geysers. Underground, narrow plumbing slows water and heat from escaping; steam builds below those constrictions until pressure pushes water upward. Yellowstone’s volcanic heat drives the system, while rain and snow supply water that seeps deep underground before rising again.
