Mammoth Campground is a developed campground about five miles south of Yellowstone's North Entrance, close to Mammoth Hot Springs. Its 85 sites sit at roughly 6,200 feet, making it a handy base for nearby hiking and fishing. NPS describes it as the park's only campground operating year-round, though part of the campground closes from mid-October through April.
Scattered juniper and Douglas fir provide patches of shade. The campground has flush toilets, drinking water, trash and recycling, plus food-storage lockers at many sites. There are no showers or camp store, so bring what you need and plan for basic amenities. Keep food and anything with an odor secured; elk and bison sometimes pass through the campground.
Some campers report road traffic or generator noise, especially near the road, though it varies by site. NPS identifies five accessible campsites and routes along a paved roadway; other surfaces include compacted gravel and dirt with grade changes. If accessible routes or a level RV site matter, check the campground's current site details before booking.
