Cathedral Mountain Lodge

Cathedral Mountain Lodge is a seasonal lodge of 31 log cabins and a main lodge beside the Kicking Horse River in Yoho National Park. Spruce and fir surround the property, with the river and mountain setting doing most of the work. Treat it as a lodging destination first.

The cabins use log and timber construction, with large windows and private decks; some have vaulted ceilings and wood-burning fireplaces. Layouts vary, so check the specific cabin features when booking. The lodge presents the property as a base for exploring Yoho and the surrounding area.

The Riverside Dining Room serves breakfast and dinner for lodge guests, and the lodge requires reservations for both. Dinner is described as seasonal and regional. Public dining access is not established, so passing visitors should not count on it as a roadside meal stop. The lodge generally operates from late May into early October; confirm the season’s exact dates before planning. Guest parking is in a private lot, and Wi-Fi is available on site. The property’s first buildings went up in 1930 for miners working the Kicking Horse and Monarch mines. After mining declined and the claims returned to the Crown in 1958, the property shifted toward travellers. The current timber-frame main lodge opened in 2006.

The river and trees give the lodge a tucked-away feel, but the Trans-Canada Highway and active railway are nearby. Some guests report traffic or train noise, including at night; others say it barely registers. Quiet is not guaranteed, so ask the lodge about room location if sound matters to you.
