Rio Grande Village Store is a convenience store and camp-supply stop beside the campground entrance on Big Bend's east side. Pick up groceries, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream, camping or RV basics, apparel and souvenirs. Gasoline and propane are also sold here, making it a handy stop before you settle in around Rio Grande Village. Think camp store rather than a broad grocery shop or meal destination; the published offering is snacks and convenience items, with no detailed menu to plan around.
The service area has a public restroom, public showers and coin-operated laundry. They are handy if you're camping nearby or coming off the road, but visitors' experiences with shower temperature, cleanliness and laundry upkeep vary. Keep a backup plan if a dependable shower is important to your trip.
The store is on Park Route 12, just outside the campground entrance. From Panther Junction, the official campground directions put Rio Grande Village about 20 miles farther down the road, so this is a useful place to handle the basics on the way to the eastern side of the park. Commercial services here are run by the park concessioner.
