Braemar Caravan Park & Camping Pods

Braemar Caravan Park & Camping Pods is a working campsite on Glenshee Road at the edge of Braemar. It has caravan and motorhome pitches, space for tents and backpackers, and six timber Fog Pods. The village is a short walk away, making this a useful base for Invercauld Estate’s hills, moorland, rivers and trails. This is a place to stay, not a stop to tour around.

There are 86 electric hardstandings, six fully serviced hardstandings, five grass pitches with electric hook-up and a backpackers’ tent area. All six Fog Pods are wooden A-frames: three standard pods sleep four, while three upgraded pods sleep five or six. They have heating, mattresses, a microwave, kettle and fridge/freezer; bring bedding, towels and cooking kit. The on-site shop stocks camping and caravanning essentials.

Toilet and shower blocks, laundry, Wi-Fi and a motorhome service point make longer stays easier. Dogs are welcome, including in the pods. Pod 1 can be ramped for wheelchair access and has an emergency pull cord; that detail does not establish accessible routes around the rest of the campsite. Pod arrivals have a firm evening cutoff, so plan the drive around check-in. The listed seasons leave a November gap between the main season and winter opening.

The name links the pods to historic fog houses on Invercauld Estate. Its origin is uncertain: it may connect to Deeside’s thatched longhouses, a Scots term for moss used in building, or mist from nearby water. The pods are a modern A-frame take on that estate name.
