More about Glen Doll Ranger Base

Use the base before a walkGlen Doll Ranger Base is a small visitor centre and ranger reception at the road end of Glen…

Glen Doll Ranger Base is a small visitor centre and ranger reception at the road end of Glen Doll, near the head of Glen Clova. Its displays cover the glen, Corrie Fee and the wider Cairngorms; leaflets cover local walks and cycling. It is a useful place to choose a route before setting out, rather than Corrie Fee itself.

Plan for Corrie FeeForestry and Land Scotland lists six scenic trails for Glen Doll.

Forestry and Land Scotland lists six scenic trails for Glen Doll. The Fee Trail follows forest tracks for 3.5 km from the car park to the entrance of Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve. Allow for that approach if the reserve is your goal; driving to the ranger base does not bring you to the corrie.

A glacier-carved destinationCorrie Fee is a natural amphitheatre carved by a glacier.

Corrie Fee is a natural amphitheatre carved by a glacier. Its steep corrie walls shelter arctic-alpine plants; mid-May to mid-July is the strongest period for alpine flowers such as globeflower and dwarf mountain willow. In winter, the waterfall can freeze and snow can be deep, so conditions on the hills beyond the base can change the feel of the walk.
