Bryans Beach is a curving 1.8 km, southwest-facing strip of sand on Freycinet Peninsula, set across the mouth of a steep valley. This is a remote destination for a full-day walk or a boat trip, not a quick coastal pull-off. From Cooks Beach, the side trip to Bryans Corner is 3 km and about two hours return; Bryans Corner is the approach area, and that figure doesn’t establish the final distance to the shore.
The beach curves across the valley mouth and holds back Bryans Lagoon, a 25-hectare water body fed by creeks draining Mount Freycinet. The ridge, pale sand, and open water give you a broad view to take in slowly. For a photo, let the shoreline curve lead from the sand toward the wooded ridge instead of framing only open water.
There are no lifesaving patrols or services, and surf conditions can vary. Consider the water and your own ability carefully before swimming.
