Guide
Hazards Beach Campsite is a small, tent-only walker camp beyond the southern end of Hazards Beach, on the Freycinet Peninsula Circuit. It’s reached on foot, not from a road. The beach stretch is roughly 3 km of firm sand, and a loaded pack makes it slower than it looks, so allow time for the crossing.
There’s a composting toilet. Lagunta Creek is the nearby water source, but its flow is unreliable; boil or treat anything you collect and don’t count on it as your only supply. Carry food and camp supplies in with you; this is a simple backcountry stop.
At the southern end of the beach, the circuit turns inland through coastal forest toward Cooks Beach. A clearing at camp looks back across the pale sand toward the Hazards and small offshore islands. The pink granite of Freycinet’s ranges gives the surrounding headlands their color.
