“Friendly Beaches is ahead, a long stretch of pale sand broken by rocky outcrops and tide pools. I'd stop for a shoreline walk rather than a swim: this is exposed, unpatrolled coast, and the surf can be powerful.”

Hiking Friendly Beaches Walk

The short walkFriendly Beaches Walk is a 0.

Friendly Beaches Walk is a 0.37-mile out-and-back from Isaacs Point day-use parking to North Friendly Beach and back. A short access path reaches a bench above the white sand, then steps lead down to the shore. Follow the north beach past its first cove toward the longer open strand. This mapped option takes about 15 to 20 minutes. It is an easy way to get onto the coast, though soft sand and a small rocky point make footing uneven in places.

From the bench to the beachThe bench gives you a clear look along the pale shoreline before you head down.

The bench gives you a clear look along the pale shoreline before you head down. The park treats this as a flexible beach walk rather than a signed loop, so you can turn around sooner or keep going. The saved line covers the short option to the north beach, about 300 m each way; longer shoreline strolls are not included in the mapped distance.

Use the marked day-use parking at Isaacs Point; the approach is unsealed, and a basic bush toilet is nearby. A Freycinet National Park pass is required, and pets are not allowed. Longer shoreline walks toward Friendly Point and Freshwater Lagoon are separate, much bigger outings, not part of this short mapped route.
