Two Dog Flats“Up ahead is Two Dog Flats, where open prairie meets the mountain forest. It’s worth a roadside pause to scan the meadows: coyotes and badgers hunt ground squirrels here, and hawks look for smaller rodents.”

Guide
Two Dog Flats is a named wildlife-viewing stop on Glacier’s eastern edge, where open prairie meets the mountains. Stop for the broad landscape and a chance to scan for wildlife; this is a roadside viewing stop.
Early morning is the park’s suggested time to look for animals. Sightings aren’t assured, so come for the prairie-and-mountain setting too. Auto parking serves the stop, and there’s a scenic viewing spot.
The grassland lies below East Flattop, Singleshot and Otokomi. For a photo, use the grasses as foreground and the peaks behind them; the roadside view also opens toward St. Mary Lake. Sunrise suits the wide view, with wildflowers in early summer and aspen color in autumn.
