The display brings together artefacts from Loch Ard, Schomberg, Fiji, Falls of Halladale and Newfield. A 1:60 scale model of the Loch Ard sits beside real ship hardware, including a kedging anchor.

Two wrecks behind the displayThe Loch Ard was wrecked off Muttonbird Island in 1878, about 4 km east of the Twelve Apostles.

The Loch Ard was wrecked off Muttonbird Island in 1878, about 4 km east of the Twelve Apostles. The Fiji struck Moonlight Head in 1891 carrying 200 tons of dynamite; ten people died and sixteen survived. Seeing the wreck material here gives the coastal cliffs and bays a more human story than the scenery alone.

You can borrow binoculars and a telescope, and use an LCD-screen microscope to look more closely at coastal nature. Wheelchair users who remain seated and visitors with hearing impairment are accommodated. Treat this as a short orientation stop with a compact display, rather than a full maritime museum visit.
