Greenbrier Picnic Area

Greenbrier Picnic Area is a shady, twelve-site picnic ground beside the Little Pigeon River, tucked among deciduous and evergreen trees in Greenbrier. Come for an easy meal outside and a creekside pause; it’s a simple stop, not a major attraction. The sites have picnic tables and charcoal grills on generally level gravel pads, and some look toward the creek.

The facilities are practical: parking, trash receptacles and vault toilets. There’s no potable water, so bring drinking water and what you plan to eat. Use charcoal in the grills; wood fires aren’t allowed in them. The area is open year-round from sunrise to sunset, with spring flowers and fall color in the surrounding woods.

Greenbrier Road is the approach. Visitors repeatedly describe it as narrow and partly gravel, so take it slowly and leave time for the drive. The picnic sites themselves are spread through the trees, with a few creek views rather than a guaranteed waterside table.

A separate Greenbrier Picnic Pavilion sits farther up the road and can accommodate up to 70 people. It’s a group-rental facility distinct from the twelve everyday picnic sites, so check its reservation status if you’re planning a gathering.
