Kula Lodge

Kula Lodge is a privately run lodge campus on Haleakalā Highway (Route 377), in Maui’s Upcountry and outside Haleakalā National Park. Treat it as a separate roadside stop on the summit drive, not an in-park site. Alongside overnight lodging, the property has a food truck, marketplace, and a garden of plants collected over the years. Garden access for day visitors isn’t clearly stated, so plan around the businesses unless you confirm otherwise.

The food truck serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner; the marketplace has deli meals, drinks, groceries, and local gifts. Look for banana-bread French toast at breakfast, a repeat visitor favorite; loco moco is another menu option. It’s a useful meal stop on the climb or descent without committing to an overnight stay.

The main house began as a private home in 1948 and became a lodge in the early 1950s. Its planted grounds grew into a garden of collected plants. In the wider Kula area, the soil and climate have long supported protea and flower farming, a distinctive part of this Upcountry setting.
