Getting there

A high-clearance vehicle is needed, and 4WD may be required. Check whether your vehicle suits the route before setting out; the unsealed approach can change after weather. Camping fees apply and must be paid before arrival. Acraman suits self-sufficient campers better than anyone relying on power or a guaranteed water supply.

“You're approaching Bunyeroo Gorge. Its walk follows a broad creek bed beneath gum trees and rugged rock, the same natural passage bullock teams once used to carry copper, mail and produce toward the western plains.”

Acraman is a four-site, unpowered campground among native pines between the Heysen and ABC Ranges. It’s a short walk from Bunyeroo Gorge, so this is a good pick if you want a small bush camp near the gorge and are happy to bring what you need. Visitors often describe it as quiet and secluded; choose it for that simple bush-camp feel, not for a long list of amenities.

Four different pitchesAll four allocated sites suit tents and camper trailers.

All four allocated sites suit tents and camper trailers. They vary in size and slope: a recent camper described site 1 as sloping, site 2 as level, and site 4 as the largest. Treat that as one visitor’s report, not a fixed site specification. Facilities are a long-drop toilet, BBQ facilities and a rainwater tank at the toilet block. The park can’t guarantee the tank’s supply or water quality, so bring your own drinking water. Sites are unpowered.
