More about Brachina East Campground

Two creek-bank areasBrachina East is a small, unpowered bush campground at the eastern end of Brachina Gorge, split…

Brachina East is a small, unpowered bush campground at the eastern end of Brachina Gorge, split between camps on Brachina Creek and Aroona Creek. Thirteen allocated sites accommodate tents and camper trailers, with selected sites suitable for caravans. There are two ways to camp here: the 2WD section sits high on the southern bank with creek views; the 4WD area is across the creek on a rugged track. This is a simple place to spend a night in the gorge, with two distinctly different ways to reach your campsite.

Match camp to vehicleEven 2WD access is for high-clearance vehicles, and some sites are 4WD only.

Even 2WD access is for high-clearance vehicles, and some sites are 4WD only. The 4WD section is across the creek on a rugged track, so don’t treat it as an easy extension of the 2WD camp. I’d choose the southern-bank area unless you have a capable 4WD and specifically want the more demanding approach. That split is the main decision to make before arrival: the southern-bank camp still puts you beside the creek.

Bring your own basicsLong-drop toilets, fire pits and BBQ facilities are available; there are no powered sites.

Long-drop toilets, fire pits and BBQ facilities are available; there are no powered sites. The water tank at the toilet block isn’t guaranteed for supply or quality, so bring drinking water. If you plan to light a wood fire, use the designated pits, bring your own firewood and check current fire restrictions before setting out. Both camping and vehicle-entry fees need to be booked before arrival. If you need power, reliable tap water or easy access to every site, choose another campground; this one suits self-sufficient campers looking for a creek-bank bush camp.
