Trezona and the Ediacaran Golden Spike“You're approaching Trezona, where a short walk leads to the Ediacaran Golden Spike. Despite the name, it's a small round plaque set into the rock at Enorama Creek.”

Trail guide
Section 60 is a 14.45 km (about 15 km) one-way stage of the Heysen Trail from Trezona to Aroona Hut. Allow about 3.5–4 hours for this moderate walk. It links two access points rather than returning to your car, so transport needs planning before you start. The appeal is the shift from creek valleys and geological features to a long traverse of the ABC Range.
From Trezona the track follows Brachina and Enorama creeks through native scrub and passes the Golden Spike. The Trezona formation preserves evidence of some of Earth's earliest life, making the marker a worthwhile pause. Creekside stretches have shade from river gums and pines; then the route leaves the valleys and climbs across the ABC Range on bush track and dirt road. Expect broken, flaky rock underfoot in places. As the track gains the ridge, views open back to the rolling Trezona Hills and ahead to the Heysen Range. That open crossing is the strongest place to stop for a wide landscape view. The descent passes through cypress pine toward Yuluna Creek, then threads gaps in the ABC Range into Aroona.
In the Haywards Hills the Heysen route shares a network with shorter local walks. Distance markers appear at regular intervals, but follow the Heysen markers where paths meet. Start at the Trezona campsite access and arrange a vehicle move or pickup at Aroona Hut; the two ends are not a loop. Trezona's campsite listing includes toilets and a water tank, but current water availability was not verified. Confirm drinking water before setting out rather than relying on the creeks. Dogs are prohibited apart from accredited assistance dogs under park rules, and all walking trails close on Catastrophic Fire Danger days.
