Sort out the boat rules first

Before putting a boat in, get it inspected and sealed with Lake George’s required green plastic seal and wire; paper inspection cards aren’t accepted. This launch is also an inspection station. Boats with motors rated at 10 horsepower or more need a Lake George Park Commission registration decal. Inspection-station hours change with the season, so check them before you drive over.

Mossy Point is a public hard-surface boat launch on Lake George’s east shore, about two miles south of Ticonderoga on Black Point Road. It gives trailer boats and kayaks direct access to the quieter north end. The ramp is built for float-on and float-off use by most trailered boats, and the lot is listed for 100 cars and trailers. If you’re boating this end, it’s a useful put-in; as a land stop, there isn’t much reason to linger.

A Henry Knox Cannon Trail monument stands by the entrance. It marks this launch as one stop on the route commemorating the Revolutionary War haul of artillery from Crown Point to the Continental Army outside Boston. A boat pumpout is also available at the launch.
