Trail guide
This easy 0.6-mile out-and-back starts at the North Parking Area on Warrick Road and follows the Green Trail—North to the beaver pond. The trail itself is 0.3 miles one way; allow about 30 minutes for the walk and a stop by the water. It is a good short option if you want a clear destination without taking on the preserve’s longer routes.
The north beaver pond covers about 72 acres. It is one of several ponds created by an active beaver population; water levels change from season to season and year to year and can affect trail conditions. Stay on the marked route.
Use the North Parking Area on Warrick Road, about 0.6 miles after turning off County Road 1. The preserve is free and open from dawn to dusk. Dogs must be leashed. The lot is not plowed in winter and may be inaccessible after snowfall. Hunting is allowed by permit; wear bright colors and hike in a group during hunting seasons.
