Peggy’s Point is a roughly two-acre public park in Hague with 315 feet of Lake George shoreline. It’s a compact stop for a picnic, a shady sit under tall trees, or a wander through Mary Lou’s Friendship Garden. The draw is the easy mix of open water, flowers and shade. Swimming is prohibited, so this is a lakeside picnic stop rather than a beach day.

The park was dedicated in 2011 in honor of Margaret “Peggy” A. Darrin, who donated the property for public use. Before that, a motel, cabins and a convenience store stood on this site. Mary Lou’s Friendship Garden remembers Hague volunteer Mary Lou Doulin, who cared for the grounds. Its roughly 30-foot circle holds perennials donated by community members in honor or memory of people, places and events.
