Lake George NY, NY
An easy spur beside a rare northern white cedar swamp.
Overview
The walk passes a northern white cedar swamp, a wetland type that is rare in New York. The 65-acre Bain property was protected in 2016, preserving habitat that drains through Sucker Brook toward Lake George. This is a good choice for an easy look at wetland forest, not a summit hike or a long backcountry outing.

Trail guide
White Trail follows a single easy path from the Yellow Connector to the east side of a northern white cedar swamp. It is a spur, not a loop. The preserve map marks about 0.5 mile between the junction and the far end, so returning the same way makes an outing of about 1 mile. The mapped tread is shorter than that printed estimate, so treat the total as approximate.
Park at the North/Warrick Road lot and follow the Yellow Connector to the White Trail junction. The approach along Yellow is not included in the 1-mile White Trail out-and-back. The preserve is open year-round from dawn to dusk; the north lot is not plowed in winter.
Beaver activity can flood trails, and water levels change with the season and year. Leashed dogs are allowed. Hunting is by permit; during hunting seasons, wear bright colors and hike in groups.
