Plan around the lake access

The campground is seasonal, so check current opening dates before planning a stay. From Lake George Village, follow Route 9N north through Hague; the campground is about three miles farther on. Swimming is limited to the designated beach and is unsupervised. Mooring buoys are for registered campers with a site reservation, and hiking should stay on state-marked trails. Flush toilets, hot showers and picnic tables are available. There is a beach access route, nine accessible campsites and two accessible shower buildings.

Rogers Rock is a large New York State DEC campground and day-use area on the north end of Lake George, about six miles south of Ticonderoga. It has 332 individual campsites, a sandy swimming beach, boat launch, mooring buoys and a picnic area. Come for a stay or a day by the water, not a single viewpoint stop.

The camping experience varies by site: visitors describe both wooded spots and more exposed lakeside sites, some of which sit closer together. Reports on bathroom and shower upkeep are mixed. Rogers Rock takes its name from Major Robert Rogers and the 1758 Battle on Snowshoes near Lake George. The familiar story says he escaped down the steep rock slope toward the frozen lake by reversing his snowshoe tracks; that history is about the mountain, not an invitation to climb it. DEC directs hikers to marked trails.
