Trail guide
The 3.25-mile loop starts at Godshill Cricket Pitch and winds through field paths, a copse, streamside footpaths and woodland before returning to the road by the Fighting Cocks. It is a compact rural walk through fields and hedges, with a stream crossing and the cottages Brook and Arden as landmarks. The distance is manageable; frequent stiles and gates make it slower and less accessible than an open path.
From the cricket pitch, head toward the Fighting Cocks and turn right; after the village hall, take the left footpath over a stile. Cross a field and copse, then follow a gravel track to the stream. Stiles and a bridge lead past Brook and Arden cottages; descend beside the road to a cattle grid, gate and stile. Continue by buildings and a yard, then take the second path on the left into woodland. Cross a field and climb a gravel track. After the sewage works and phone mast, follow gateways, field edges and a kissing gate back to the road; turn uphill toward the Fighting Cocks and left to the pitch.
Allow about two hours for a steady walk with repeated stiles and gates. Expect grass, gravel and uneven field-edge paths, with the stream bridge and step-over obstacles the main friction; this is not step-free. Start at Godshill Cricket Pitch car park.
