Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina covers 75 acres on Ohio Key near Big Pine Key. It is a waterfront stay with RV sites and separate rental lodging, so it makes more sense as a booked base by the water than as a quick Overseas Highway sightseeing stop. The operator does not spell out public walk-in access, so confirm access before arriving without a reservation.
The resort lists a pool, store, restrooms and showers, laundry, a playground, sports courts and a game room, alongside waterfront sites and a marina. Its activity list includes group events such as bingo and crafts. Schedules can vary, so check with the resort if a particular activity is part of your plan.
The island was formerly known as Ohio Key. Its name is linked to railroad workers from Ohio who came to build Henry Flagler’s Key West Extension; Sunshine Key became associated with the resort and marina on the island’s Gulf side.
