Tsocowis Creek Camp is a backcountry beach campsite on the West Coast Trail, about 17 km south of Pachena Bay. The site sits at the creek mouth, with a wide sandy shore, driftwood-divided tent spots and a forest edge. I’d keep it in the plan if a quieter beach night and the nearby falls appeal to you; the catch is that getting here takes a rugged multi-day hike, and you may still share the beach.

Plan for an overnight stopThe camp has no road access.

The camp has no road access. Overnight visits to the West Coast Trail run May 1 through September 30, and hikers need both a West Coast Trail Backcountry Use Permit and a national park entry pass. Tide windows matter on the coastal approach, so check the route conditions before setting out. Guides report an outhouse and a food cache at the camp; the cache stores your food, it is not a place to buy it. No food service is documented here, so bring all your food. The creek is not a confirmed drinking-water supply; plan to treat natural water.

Follow the creek to the beachTsocowis Creek reaches the shore as a small waterfall and pool.

Tsocowis Creek reaches the shore as a small waterfall and pool. Ladders and a bridge cross above the creek, with a view back down to the beach. If you want a wider look at the camp, the elevated view from that crossing shows how the sandy shore meets the open coast; it takes a walk up the trail rather than a step out of a vehicle.

The creek's name is officially recorded as Indigenous in origin, but its meaning has not been published. More broadly, the West Coast Trail follows ancient First Nations routes used for trade and travel; Parks Canada records Huu-ay-aht, Ditidaht and Pacheedaht villages and camps along this coast long before foreign sailing ships arrived. That is the route's wider history, not a documented story specific to this campsite.
