Old Faithful General Store - Upper is a historic general store in the Upper Geyser Basin. It combines a sit-down restaurant serving burgers and sandwiches with groceries, ice cream, apparel, and souvenirs. Use it for a meal or resupply while you are in the Old Faithful area, rather than making a special trip for shopping. Restaurant service is first-come, first-served.
Charles Hamilton built it in 1929 to serve hundreds of campers at Basin Auto Camp, which gave the store its historical name. The concrete outer walls were designed to resemble wood; inside, heavy timber beams frame a large stone fireplace. If you want a picture of the interior, frame the fireplace with the beams overhead; that is the building’s defining detail.
