Old Faithful Lodge Cabins is a cluster of simple cabins around a one-story log-and-stone lodge, a short walk from the Old Faithful geyser basin and visitor center. Pick it for the location: guests can reach the geyser without getting back in the car, including for an early or evening visit. Cabin setups vary, so check whether your particular unit has a private bathroom or uses shared facilities before booking.
Some Frontier Cabins have private bathrooms; others use communal facilities. The cabins have heat, but only some have a sink, and they have no air conditioning or TVs and don't allow in-room cooking. Pets are allowed in select cabins. Comfort varies by unit: some guests find their cabin clean and comfortable, while others describe small, basic rooms. Choose by the amenities you need, not just by the lodge name.
The lobby and cafeteria look toward Old Faithful, so the geyser can be part of the stay even when you're inside. The cafeteria serves lunch and dinner, and a bake-and-ice-cream shop offers muffins, bagels, sandwiches, and soft-serve. A gift shop sells souvenirs and apparel.
The lodge sits in the Old Faithful Historic District, listed on the National Register in 1982 for its rustic architecture and role in early park tourism. The building reached its present configuration in 1928, with the consolidation designed by architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood. Look for the massive log walls and stone pillars in the one-story main lodge.
