Faeder Lake Day Use Area

Faeder Lake is a small lake and simple picnic area on Yoho's western side, beside the Trans-Canada Highway. When water is present, its blue-green surface sits below forested mountain slopes. The highway stays close, so expect road noise; this is a convenient break, not a quiet lakeshore escape. Make the stop while driving westbound toward Golden or Wapta Falls. The access is unsafe from eastbound traffic, so do not try to cross the highway to turn in.

Visitors have found the lake full and clear in some seasons, but very low or nearly dry in others, especially in late summer and early fall. If a full lake is the reason for your stop, treat that view as uncertain. Faeder Lake works best as a short pause on a drive through the western park rather than a destination to plan a day around.

Picnic tables and benches sit around the shore, with a basic pit toilet by the parking area. Dry toilets at park day-use areas are seasonal, so availability can vary outside summer. Bring food for your stop; no on-site food service was found.
